Robbie Hellstrom Joins The Vancouver Golf Club

The highly touted and widely respect golf specialist Robbie Hellstrom joins The Prestigious Vancouver Golf Club.

The Vancouver Golf Club one of British Columbia’s oldest Private golf courses has secured the services of Robbie Hellstrom. Recently named one of Canada’s most influential people by the NGCOA he has joined The Vancouver Golf Club effective August 15, 2002. Robbie will assume the role of General Manager to oversee the operations of the Club. The Vancouver Golf Club is an exclusive Private course and has been in operation for over 90 years. The course nestled on a 170 acre parcel of land in the City of Coquitlam has long been one of BC’s most recognized and celebrated courses. The facility has hosted two LPGA events and has a sizable active membership of over 1100.

Over the last 5 years the club has been undergoing significant improvements to its facility and infrastructure. This culminated in June of 2002 with the reopening of the $6,000,000 newly renovated Clubhouse. “We set forth on mission to find who we felt was the best possible person to lead The Vancouver Golf Club into the 21st century. The process we undertook was tedious and complex, in the end we believe we found the best person available in the golf industry today. We are extremely proud to have someone like Robbie join our Club. It is not often you get the opportunity to secure the services of someone so accomplished. We are looking forward to a great future with Robbie, said Mr. Pierre Dechaine, the chairman of the Selection Committee.

The arrival of Robbie to the private club business is a strong departure from his recent successes. But it is not without reason. He explains, “the private Club industry is facing ongoing challenges to attract members and to keep existing ones; competition from resort courses and high end public courses has made the challenge of attracting new members even more challenging. There is no better opportunity to help reinvent the business of private clubs”.
