Being Recognized At The Top

2002 Score magazine Top 100 Results are in and numerous of Robbie Hellstrom and RJH Golf’s Projects are on the list.

Score Magazine July 2002 edition recognizes the Best Golf Courses in Canada and when studying the list numerous of these courses have something in common. The commonality they share is the role that Robbie Hellstrom and RJH golf have played in helping them reach this status. In the top 100 category there are 4 courses which have been associated with Robbie or RJH. The first coming in at # 12 is the “Le Geant” course at the Intrawest owned Tremblant Resort. Robbie was responsible for over seeing the construction and subsequent operation of this magnificently designed Thomas McBroom Course. The Second on the list coming in at # 39 is the “Le Diable” also at the Intrawest owned Tremblant Resort. Robbie was responsible for all aspects of the development, construction and operation of this magnificent Hurdzan/Fry designed course which has played host to the 1999 Export “A” Skins Game featuring David Duval, John Daly, Fred Couples and Mike Weir. Robbie and RJH Golf acted as Tremblant’s coordinators of this event. The course was also host to the Golf day featuring The Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and the President of the United States Mr. Bill Clinton. Robbie assisted Mr. Neil Champagne the Director of Golf Operation in preparing the course for this prestigious event. Both Le Geant and Le Diable have received international recognition from magazines like Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and International Golfer. Score Magazine also recognized Tremblant as the #2 best Golf Resort in Canada.

Coming in at # 44 is the Greywolf Golf course at the Intrawest owned Panorama Resort. Robbie was involved at the commencement of the project working with Graham wood the General Manager of the Resort on the preliminary routings and the JVC that was developed for the project. This incredibly designed Doug Carrick course has quickly become recognized as one of the best course in the Country and was awarded the Best New Course in Canada designation by Golf Digest Magazine. Coming in at 83# after only its 3rd year of operation is the Dundarave Golf Course. Robbie and RJH were responsible for all aspects from conception to construction to operation of this spectacular Hurdzan/Fry design. The course is quickly becoming recognized as one of the best golf courses in Canada. The brudenell resort which is the home of Dundarave as well as the Canadian Golf Academy also overseen by RJH. Score ranked Brudenell resort as the # 8 Best golf resort in Canada.

Commenting on the recent Score rankings Robbie said, “It has truly been an honor to work with the various architects, developers, construction companies and team members who allowed these projects to achieve such recognition. In projects as enormous as these there is no one single individual that deserves credit but the entire group. I was just very pleased to be part of those teams that made these incredible projects a reality”.

The yearly rankings put together by Score magazine are designed to help recognize some of Canada best courses the panel that selects the courses is made up of a wide variety of individuals with associations to the golf industry and uses a non biased model for choosing the finalists.
